This short film and original score honors the spirit of artist Ana Mendieta in the Iowan landscape, where she created many of her earth-body works. 

The score uses microphones to capture sounds in and around the body, inspired by Mendieta’s “Silueta Series.” By listening inward, the piece explores the intersection of body, nature, and spirituality.

Iowa, where Mendieta immigrated from Cuba through Operation Pedro Pan, shaped her as an artist and became her final resting place after her controversial death. 

This work is done as a memorial. A portrait. A spiritual conjuring.
